About Caroline and Patrick Pilkington

Caroline and Patrick Pilkington run Simonstown Architectural & Garden Ornaments from their home in Coole, Co Westmeath, where a large garden lends itself to show a number of stock items in situ.

With a wealth of past experience in the art world, antiques, decorative arts and architecture they are specialists on the installation of urns, fountains, follies and other garden ornaments suitable to the location, period of building, size of garden and other factors important in placing ornaments and statuary in a garden, estate, office building, cafe, restaurant, park or other public space.

For 15 years Simonstown has been the Irish agent for UK based Chilstone, makers of fine cast stone since 1953. Chilstone specialise in reproducing, with great accuracy and attention to detail, a wide range of ornaments, many of which are reproduced from the original antique item. All items are handmade and hand finished in reconstituted stone using a special process that has been developed over 60 years. The finished item has the colour and texture of natural Portland stone and its composition encourages the spontaneous growth of mosses and lichens so it ages naturally.

In 2017 Simonstown introduced a new line of very high quality fibreglass pots and planters to compliment Chilstone’s products. Manufactured in the UK these are produced by a company that has perfected their technique over 25 years, to design and produce decorative fibreglass plant containers that are extremely difficult to distinguish from the real thing.

The finishes range from weathered bronze, terracotta, lead, antiqued lead, aluminium, copper, stone and rust and can be seen in some of the most prestigious homes, gardens, hotels and public buildings worldwide.

Fibreglass is a wonderfully tough and versatile material that is maintenance free, light in weight, non-corrosive and completely frost proof. The authentic finishes are incorporated into the original mix so the colour goes all the way through and cannot chip or flake off.

We have supplied Chilstone garden ornaments for gardens of all shapes and sizes throughout Ireland, from Dublin town gardens, to suburban gardens, large gardens, rural retreats, stud farms, public spaces, estates and more!
We can also source other architectural items for clients including chimneypieces, flooring, chimney pots and many more.
